Hello my name is Adam Mazurowski and I'm 16 years old. I've grown up in California's Central Valley where ice hockey is virtually unknown. I started playing at a much older age than the boys I play with and compete against, many have 6+ years experience on me.

I was selected to play for a team for this upcoming season under the direction of some wonderful, skilled coaches who took their team last year to Nationals.

However for me to play on this team requires me to travel 75 miles each way, three times a week for practices, and more for games. It is not uncommon for me to get home at 1:30 am then wake up a few hours later for school. Meanwhile keeping up my 3.88 GPA. Playing at this level in my state requires me to travel to Southern California several times out of our 7 month season to play our regular games. I will also be traveling to Canada later in June, playing in an International tournament in Chicago in November and two other out of state tournaments during the season. All of this is an extra cost from the expensive club dues. I'm also required to purchase extra gear (sticks, skates, team travel apparel, new jerseys) on top of the airfare, hotel, bus rentals, and tournament fees.

I have been tirelessly looking for a summer job to help pay for these expenses, but so far have no luck. You may wonder why I'm doing all of this. My ultimate goal is to get a college scholarship and continue growing in the sport I love while studying to be a structural engineer.
